Jonny's Scrap Yard

This is one of my favourite places in Cape Town.
It's a beautiful mess.
This is a black and white charchole and chalk drawing (520 x 410mm) i did for a project in a drawing course for UNISA. It is another view of Jonny's Scrap Yard. I found it very sad. Poor little mini, stuck in the middle of all the scraps.

Long time no write
Hello hello
So much for me keeping my blog up to date! I said i would, but i haven't had the chance and I've been a bit lazy. Hope everyone had a good Xmas and new year? Happy 2007!
Eventho its only been a month into the year I've been very busy. Myself and my man, Bruce, went to Zanzibar (off the coast of Tanzania, East Africa) on the 18th of Jan for his sister, Melanie's wedding. She got hitched to Arno, a local SA singer, and Bruce and his brother, Glen, gave her away, as her dad couldn't make it. What a blast. We partied from the moment we stepped out of the taxi to the aeroplane flight home. It was fantastic!

If anyone out there reading this wishes to holiday on a tropical island, ZANZIBAR, is definitely the best place to go. It is so untouched and void of Westerners. We stayed at Paje By Night (South East of the Island), http://www.pajebynight.net/ which is run by an Italian guy, Marco and i think its his girlfriend, Franchesca. Eventho they are from a Western background, they both have settled into the local ways of Zanzibar. Everything is so laid back and easy, as so an Island life should be! You can really let yourself go and have a jol! The party began as we put our one foot out of the taxi. G 'n T's were flowing, as well as some of the local "spices". Marco and I even ended up having quite an in depth convo about the up and coming formula one season. As a true Italian, he also supports Ferrari and we both reckoned that Kimi is gonna give Alonso a run for his money, as Kimi is finally driving a reliable car! Go Ferrari!
The big day was on the Saturday, bare foot and on the beach. It was the perfect setting for the perfect couple. Mel looked like a true beauty in her Catherine Moore designed dress, and Bruce and Glen cleaned up so gooooood wearing a white linen Zazibarian made ensemble. The whole occasion couldn't have been more stunning! The groom didn't look too bad himself! The Building in the background is the other hotel, Hakuna Majiwe, where the rest of the guests stayed and where the reception took place.

Here are some more cool pics I took of all the fun we had. The one on the left is Bernadette, Glen and Myself on the first night i got to Paje By Night. Glen and Bernadette and most of the guests arrived two days before. The one next to it is of Bruce and Precision Swiss, Andy, after we'd finished our coconut cocktails. Bruce didn't enjoy the cocktails so he was drinking one of the local brews, Safari. This was also taken at Paje by Night. Oh! its called Paje By Night cos its bar is open 25/7...just up my alley! We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay!
I gotta go, but I'll post some more fun pics and info a bit later. Before i go i just want to say good luck to The Stormers in the Super 14. They are playing their first game on Saturday afternoon against the Cheetahs. Go check out my tipping and my team, The Boozers, at http://www.superbru.com/ . We're gonna kick the Aussies Butt!!!

Intro to MacFamily

What a boring day... Its not actually that boring its just that I'm a bit hungover. My family went our for an innocent quick dinner last night which ended, as it has been lately, with all of us trying to solve the worlds problems. We all sit around our pub and fill our minds with useless crap about how we are fucking up our earth and how we plan on solving it, yet in the morning we're all suffering from headaches and the droogies (dry mouth syndrome) to carry on with our days as per normal! What a load of crap.
I think its time to tell you a little bout my nutty family. My ma is a house wife, dad works. He use to own the tequila distillery Agave Distillers, the only tequila distillery outside Mexico, but after 6 years of perfecting the flavour and spending millions on the packaging a marketing he has sold his shares and he is so over-the-moon to get the hell out of the bullshit liquor industry. My younger boet, Grant, is a web designer at Quirk, http://www.quirk.biz/ and is in my books extremely talented. My boy, Bruce, is the love of my life...but we all say that on the good days. We still stay at my folks place, but is cool, they enjoy him and get on like old mates. He is busy, well has been busy, for the last freaking year, on fixing our house up. He is in the process of starting his own housing refurbishing company. He is so clever on how he fixes and builds things. I find myself just googling over him when he is working...but that just may be his sexy bod...hmmm. That's the Macfamily, not too exciting, but exciting enough to keep all of us on our toes, especially when there is a bottle of booze around!

I found these two photos while going through some of my other stuff today and thought that I'd share them with you all. It's my beautiful country, and my home Cape Town. The image to the right is Cape Point, said to be the Southern most point on the African continent and where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, but unfortunately that isn't the truth. Cape Agulhas is where the two oceans meet. You can read all about it at:
http://www.capeinfo.com/WCregions/Agulhas/agulhasOceans.asp

The other pic is of our stunning Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (and our famous Table Mountain in the background), which is one of my favorite places to go for some sundowner ice cold draughts. Come rain, come shine, this place buzzes all year round and if you've never been here then you have to come and experience it!

Be Inspired
Well so much for me updating my blog everyday! I just haven't had the urge and haven't at all been inspired for a while, plus I've had a lot of crap going on. My man and I have been having issues and all the normal daily stuff that's been irritating me has kinda made me just wanna sit in front of the TV and do absolutely nothing constructive. But I'm trying to pull my socks up and get this thing going. These are a few monoprints I did a few years ago that I really enjoyed doing . I've been going through all my works I did when I was happy and excited about creating them to try and get back into the creation mode and I think its working. I've started on a new piece that I'll put up when its done. Hope you enjoy these in the meantime.

In The beginning

Another Monday and another Formula 1 season over. And not just having the season over, a whole decade of schema has come to an end. No more will I get the thrills of watching him so brilliantly claim my favorite tracks. But he sure ended his career with a cracking race, coming from 17th up to 4th. I always wish there would just be a few more laps so he could catch up to Alonso. But I suppose there will always be Kimi and Ferrari, and not to forget Massa, the new Racing King of Brazil, both drivers should be great to watch in the 2007 season, as well as sexy Button!
Anyhow this is me, drawn a few years back, I know, I look a bit drunk or something, I blame it on the shadows in the room at the time I drew it. Yes I'm a budding artist, well trying to be. I love drawing and painting and all that arty farty stuff and even studied it, but I just cant get myself to make it! I'm partly going to use this blog to get your critism, ideas, advice, etc, on some of my works and hopefully I will get inspired! Then I will invite you all to my first one man show. It could be a very interesting approach into creating an art work, getting ideas from different cultures and personal opinions. I'm excited to get some feedback, so its up to me to keep you entertained and for you to give me great inspiring feedback!
